Smart City Logistics and Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans addressing the Emergence of E-commerce – notes from the workshop in Pardubice

The project TA ČR CK01000032 workshop took place at the Faculty of Transport Engineering, University of Pardubice on September 17.  The PPL CZ (DHL Express subsidiary), DPD, DACHSER, Czech Post and Alza.cz managers took part in the event as well. The relevant specialists from the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic, Pardubice Municipal Council and Prague Institute of Planning and Development represented the policy making bodies. The event confirmed how important the long-term communication and cooperation between the academia, public policy actors and the freight distribution and e-commerce market players is for the implementation of city logistics strategies addressing the sustainable urban mobility plans including both, the requirements by the citizens and public bodies, and the ongoing development of parcel deliveries’ distribution market being the backbone of e-commerce.
