Students of Logistics minor spec. on an excursion to the headquarters of DB Schenker, CZ

Students of the minor specialization of Logistics visited together with the head of the Department of Logistics doc. JUDr. Ing. Radek Novák, CSc. and Ing. Petr Kolář, Ph.D. the headquarters of DB Schenker in the Czech Republic, which is a partner company of the Department of Logistics at the FBA.

Since the morning of the excursion day, it was fogy in Prague and the weather stayed the same in Rudná near Prague, where the headquarters of DB Schenker is located.

The beginning of the excursion took place under the direction of CEO of DB Schenker for the Czech Republic, Mr. Ing. Tomáš Holoucký, who, besides introducing the company himself, focused on innovations in general, and then mainly applied innovations within the whole DB concern. Unfortunately, most of them are and were implemented outside the Czech Republic. For example, autonomous and semi-autonomous freight trucks that are tested in Germany and Sweden were mentioned. We also touched the theme of city logistics, in particular, the so-called “cargo bikes”, which would be a more environmentally friendly option for large cities with modern transport infrastructure.

The lecture was followed by a tour of the cross-dock warehouse with a commentary by the Land Transport Manager, after which the whole excursion ended.
